Smart Coal Preparation Plant

Smart Coal Preparation Plant

As the state places great emphasis on workplace safety in the coal industry, it has introduced a series of policies and regulations to standardize industry development and ensure worker safety. Coal preparation plants, as a critical link in the coal value chain, face numerous potential safety hazards due to their complex operating environments; therefore, they must prioritize occupational safety and implement effective measures to safeguard the well-being of workers.

The Intelligent Lighting and Personnel Positioning System uses LED luminaires as its platform, seamlessly integrating smart lighting control technology with UWB-based personnel positioning. It enables unified on/off management, individual luminaire control, remote operation, and the collection and statistical analysis of energy consumption data for lighting equipment, thereby achieving energy savings in lighting and real-time monitoring and management of luminaires. This ensures “lights turn on when people arrive and off when they leave,” guaranteeing efficient, stable, 24/7 operation while minimizing unnecessary illumination and effectively reducing electricity consumption. Meanwhile, when personnel wearing positioning tags enter a work area, data exchange with the smart luminaires allows for functions such as displaying personnel locations, replaying movement trajectories, and managing alerts for abnormal behaviors. These capabilities not only help reduce a company’s energy consumption but also provide a solid foundation for enhancing personnel management efficiency and ensuring compliance with production safety standards.

Functional Applications

Precise real-time personnel positioning

The 3D map provides precise, real-time visualization of personnel movements and distribution within the plant, while also featuring automated statistical capabilities that display the number of workers by job role and area, thereby significantly enhancing the intuitiveness and accuracy of workforce safety management.

Intelligent Early Warning for Violations

Within the production area, if unauthorized activities occur—such as workers crossing designated work zones or gathering in groups, or visitors illegally entering and remaining on site—the system automatically triggers an alarm and logs relevant information, promptly alerting management to intervene. This early‑warning mechanism enhances the efficiency and responsiveness of safety management.

Intelligent Early Warning for Violations in Key Positions

In critical areas such as production workshops and control rooms, if operators on duty engage in violations like leaving their posts, switching shifts without authorization, sleeping on the job, or lingering unnecessarily, the system automatically triggers an alarm and logs the relevant details, promptly alerting management to intervene. This early‑warning mechanism enhances the efficiency and responsiveness of safety management.

Historical timeline rewind

The Personnel Positioning System can track an individual’s movement trajectory over a specified time period. Within the camera surveillance area, the system enables linkage between personnel movement paths and surveillance video, supporting multi-speed dynamic playback. This provides robust support for managers to analyze specific individuals’ movement patterns and for accident investigations.

Smart Lighting Control

The Personnel Positioning System integrates UWB Base Stations with lighting fixtures, enabling unified remote management via wireless networking. By configuring lighting schedules, it achieves automated control—lights turn on when people arrive and off when they leave. The system adjusts the on/off status and brightness of the lights based on personnel location data, thereby preventing unnecessary energy consumption.

Value Highlights

By upgrading and retrofitting lighting fixtures, we have enabled automated, remote lighting management through multiple control modes, effectively addressing issues such as persistent on‑lighting or manual operation. This approach significantly reduces energy consumption, integrates with control systems to deliver on‑demand lighting—turning lights on when people arrive and off when they leave—extends fixture lifespan, and promotes energy savings and emission reductions, yielding substantial economic and social benefits. Furthermore, real-time monitoring of lighting installations helps cut labor‑intensive maintenance costs and enhances equipment‑maintenance efficiency. Lighting can also be leveraged for personnel‑location tracking, preventing redundant investments, minimizing waste, and lowering construction expenses. In addition, by providing real‑time location data, this solution empowers enterprises to strengthen risk management and safety oversight, driving the digitalization and intelligentization of workplace safety management.
